Bible Verse of the Day 1/6/17 “Other’s shoes”

Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples…

Acts 9:1

29 He talked and debated with the Hellenistic Jews, but they tried to kill him

Acts 9:29

Today we are going to pause from our focus on how God at all times is disrupting, dismantling, healing, and restoring in our lives and looking at some of the pains Saul (Paul) must have felt after he was disrupted by Jesus on the road to Damascus.

Saul had a plan, a purpose, a lifestyle, friends and family.  I had never really thought about what life must have looked like for him after his conversion to Christianity.

To some degree for a period of time Saul had no earthly “home”. He must have been mistrusted by those who followed Christ, after all he had been a leader set on imprisoning and killing them.  He would have been outcast by the Jewish leaders and his friends/family, who would have felt Saul betrayed them.

I know that God provided for him along the way but as a human I can’t imagine how tough that would have been.

There are times I forget to really think about what life would have looked like for people in the bible, it makes my life seem pretty easy in so many ways.

My prayer for you and I is for today and the weekend is that the Holy Spirit will help us see what others face or faced and focus less on our troubles.  Yes our challenges will be there but maybe our perspective and approach to them will change.

In the Father’s love,
